Mayor Marcus Stevenson

Biography


Elected in 2021 as the youngest mayor at the age of twenty-seven, Mayor Stevenson embodies the vibrancy and forward-thinking spirit of the community he serves. Rooted in a deep understanding of Midvale's history and traditions, Mayor Stevenson is a beacon for inclusivity and progress.

A native of Utah, Mayor Stevenson hails from a family devoted to public service, his dedication to civic engagement was instilled from an early age. With a background in political science and community engagement, Mayor Stevenson has been a driving force in enhancing public safety, fostering civic participation, empowering youth engagement, advancing recreational opportunities, breathing new life into Main Street, and spearheading initiatives for affordable housing.

Mayor Stevenson serves as the Chair of the Unified Police Department Board, ensuring the safety and well-being of the broader community. Additionally, his commitment extends to serving on the Unified Fire Authority Board, Unified Fire Service District Board, and Salt Lake County Board of Health, underlining his unwavering dedication to public safety and community well-being.

Beyond his commitment to his city, Mayor Stevenson’s proudest accomplishment is his family – his wife, Nikki, and their three boys. The family stays busy with their love of skateboarding, spending time outdoors, and taking care of the family pets – two cats, a bearded dragon, and a gargoyle gecko. Stevenson is an avid music enthusiast who loves to delve into the history of music by reading biographies and autobiographies about musicians.
