Salt Lake County annually awards over $5 million in federal funding through grants aimed to improve our communities. To help ensure this funding is allocated to address the greatest community needs, the division of Community Resources and Development is seeking public input. The results of the survey will be compiled and shared with those who help to award the federal funds through several grant programs administered by Salt Lake County. (Salt Lake County)—Public health officials from the Salt Lake County Health Department (SLCoHD) are investigating a case of measles in a Salt Lake County resident who traveled outside of the U.S. The case has received all appropriate vaccinations. This is the first confirmed case of the disease in Salt Lake County since 2011.

Scams continue to use the IRS as a lure. These tax scams take many different forms. The most common scams are phone calls and emails from thieves who pretend to be from the IRS. Scammers use the IRS name, logo or a fake website to try and steal money from taxpayers. Identity theft can also happen with these scams.

Midvale City issued $4.49 million in Water, Sewer, and Storm Water Refunding Bonds on November 3, 2016. We issued these bonds to “refinance” outstanding Series 2007B Bonds, issued in 2007, which carried a higher interest rate. The interest rate on the 2007B bonds was 4.02%. The interest rate on the new bonds issued is 2.34%.

The Utah Department of Transportation (UDOT) is conducting an environmental study to evaluate the possible transportation-related improvements to reduce delays along I-15 and 7200 South. UDOT plans to add a lane to southbound I-15 between S.R. 201 and 12300 South in Salt Lake County, as well as widen 7200 South from I-15 to Bingham Junction in Midvale.
